Much like last weekend, you would actually have to try to not find something to do in these here parts this weekend. Complicating factor being that I am literally writing this from under a blanket, where I have been since Friday because I’M FREEZING.
This weather has put a serious cramp in my new-for-2016 “Get Off Yer Duff and Do Something” style. I, like many of you, stiff-upper-lip my way through the cold of Buffalo’s winter, hooked on the promise of Spring slamming the door shut on that bullhonkey, and bringing with it much more humane temperatures.
Therefore, I apologize to the Central Terminal Ghost Hunt, the Clarence Bicycle Pub Crawl, Niagara Hospice’s Gran Fondo for having skipped the opportunities they presented yesterday for the fuzzy warmth of my favorite woobie. The word is weak. I admit it.
Today is the Explore Buffalo Luxury Bicycle Tour. Don’t be like me. Grab a hat and a thermos and go take a gander at the architectural treasures that line Delaware Avenue.
Bad news? These rude temps are expected to continue throughout the week. Good news? LOTS of inside things to do!
Monday! Pizza Plant‘s new downtown location hosts their very first Canalside beer tasting. It’s the launch party for New Belgium Brewing Co’s storied Fat Tire Amber Ale, which will be on tap. Starts at 5pm sharp, with “swag while it lasts.”
Tuesday! The Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site Hosts “TRivia Nite @ The Site.” Admission is 5 bucks for TR Site members/students, 10 for everyone else (21 and over only, obv), and admission includes a free drink. Cash bar, snacks and tours of the site at 6, TRivia starts at 6:30.
Wednesday! I’m actually gambling that Old Fort Niagara‘s Season Preview Night will be held inside. The event runs from 6 to 8, and is free to the public. Check out what the historic site has coming up this summer, and hob nob with some of the area’s best re-enactors. Definitely wearing my hat, though.
Thursday! A girl’s gotta have night off. It’s only supposed to be 64, with a low of 46. I think the dog and I will bingewatch some HGTV on Netflix, while I mentally prepare for the weekend … because there is a BUNCH of stuff going on, including:
- Brewing Science
- Giants of Buffalo/M&T 3rd Friday at The Buffalo History Museum
- Rollerskating at Riverworks and the Queen City Roller Girls playoffs
- Steelfest
Further details on those events and more to follow. For now, my fingers are cold from typing. Hot toddy time.
