The sentencing Thursday of Former New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has once again sprung Assemblywoman Jane Corwin into a call for action to reform the political system in Albany.

Corwin, R-Clarence, who released a statement following Thursday’s announcement, had done similar a week ago when former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison.

Corwin’s statement, which follows below in its entirety, refers to a “culture of corruption” in Albany and implores those in power to “reform our state government now.”

Full statement:

Two of Albany’s former three men in the room have been found guilty and sentenced on corruption charges, and the third is now amid a slew of scandal involving his own administration and some of his closest confidants. The culture of corruption in Albany can no longer be tolerated. The people of Western New York and I expect to see leadership on this issue from the top down. We have not seen that leadership yet and with just 15 scheduled legislative days remaining, I implore the governor and legislative leaders to take action to reform our state government now.
