BUFFALO — As many as 80 bands played music on nearly 40 porches throughout Elmwood Village Saturday afternoon, as part of the Elmwood Village Association’s bi-annual Porchfest.

Stretching from Bird Avenue to North Street the bands and solo musicians played on porches, decks and even sidewalks in front of residences, businesses and even a church or two.

The event started in 2013, taking a cue from other cities that have seen success with the model, including Somerville, Mass.; Cleveland, Ohio; and Ithaca.

The weather was nearly perfect Saturday, leading to almost every porch along the 37-stop route to be swarmed by music fans standing, listening, and — on occasion — dancing.
