KIANTONE — A 55-year-old Celoron woman was charged Wednesday with driving while ability impaired and unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Route 60.

According to New York State Police, Leisa Gates drove through a road check the State Police were conducting. During the investigation Troopers smelled marijuana coming from inside her vehicle and subsequently found a pipe containing marijuana residue, a marijuana cigarette and a small amount of marijuana vegetation.

Gates was given standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was transported to the SP Jamestown for additional testing by a Drug Recognition Expert from the Chautauqua County Sheriff Department.

Gates was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Kiantone Court in May.
