TORONTO — The Buffalo Sabres led the Toronto Maple Leafs by a score of 1-0 for nearly half of Saturday night’s game, but fell 4-1 thanks to three third-period Toronto goals.

Brian Gionta got the Sabres’ lone goal at 4:31 of the first period. The snap shot was assisted by Marcus Foligno.

In the second, William Nylander tied it for the Leafs at 14:55. Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and Milan Michalek assisted.

Connor Carrick put the Maple Leafs in the lead 6:56 into the third period, assisted by Jake Gardiner and Nylander. At 15:32, Martin Marincin made it 3-1, assisted by Parenteau and Nikita Soshnikov. Michalek tallied Toronto’s fourth goal at 16:46, with help from Colin Greening and Morgan Rielly.

With the loss, the Sabres fall to 29-34-10. Their next outing is Tuesday when the face the Carolina Hurricanes on the road.

With nine games remaining in the 2015-2016 season, the Sabres would have to win seven of them have a .500 season.
