BRANT — A 23-year-old Irving man was charged Sunday with DWI and other traffic violations following a pursuit by New York State Police.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop on Milestrip Road for failure to dim high beams. Troopers attempted to interview Eric J. Barreno, who sped off when Troopers asked for a driver’s license. He continued down Milestrip Road before turning into a field, where his vehicle became stuck in the mud and he attempted to flee on foot. He was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
Barreno was transported to SP Collins for processing, where he refused all sobriety tests and a breath sample. He was arraigned in the Town of Brant Court and was remanded to the Erie County Jail on $2,000 bail or $4,000 bond.
