BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bisons defeated the Iowa Cubs by a score of 3-2 on Friday night at Sahlen Field.

Iowa got the offense started early, with Christopher Morel hitting a lead off home run off of Luke Bard for a 1-0 lead. After giving up the first run, Bard would settle in and throw a season-high four innings while allowing only two other hits.

The Cubs would add another run before Rafael Lantigua hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to bring Wynton Bernard home and cut Iowa’s lead in half, 2-1. The bottom of the fifth saw Buffalo put together a rally to take the lead. After Otto Lopez and Addison Barger reached base, newcomer Jordan Luplow hit a two-RBI double to right field that put the Herd ahead.

The 3-2 lead is all the Buffalo bullpen would need, as Thomas Hatch, Junior Fernandez and Nate Pearson combined to allow only 1 hit and struck out six batters. Thomas Hatch would earn his second win of the season for the Herd, throwing 2.0 innings, allowing one hit collecting four strikeouts.

Nate Pearson collected his first career professional save, striking out Dom Nuñez to finish the comeback win. Buffalo now has 42 strikeouts in their four games (32 innings) against the Cubs this season.
