The Western New York music community is openly lamenting the passing of rock-n-roll great Chuck Berry.
Anyone one Facebook has surely noticed the homage being paid to Berry, who died today at the age of 90 at his home near Wentzville, Mo., about 45 miles west of St. Louis.
All WNY Radio’s own ThinkSoJoe Kent probably summed it up best:
Man. What a legend this guy was. If you like rock music, this is a huge loss for you, regardless of what bands you like.
Sad to hear of the loss of the Father of rock N roll. Long live Chuck Berry
Nick Landers of Inherent Vice said:
RIP Chuck Berry !!! Innovation at its finest Rock and Blues
And Jeff Lasky, who for years went by “Mike Melody” as a disc jockey on multiple radio station shared the following:
Chuck Berry may have died today, but to quote one more musician: “The heart of rock-n-roll is still beatin'” — Huey Lewis. And we owe a whole lot of that to Berry.
