The Bulls are looking at the upperclassmen for some leadership at the UB Stampede. Last year, it was Chardae Henry and Barrett Kemp who led the way for the Bulls. Henry placed second overall for the women; while Kemp placed third overall for the men, just tenths of a second before teammate Andrew Berge. Right behind Henry were Corinne Birchard, Rachel Barich, and Meagan Hopkins. The three were able to finish in the Top-10 for the women, clinching seventh, eighth, and tenth respectively. Craig Kaiser was able to join Kemp and Berge in the Top-15 with a twelfth place finish. This year, Coach Mitchell is excited to see success from returners Brian Crimmins, Tyler Scheving, Justin Van Epps, and Amy Shaw as well.
The freshmen had an impressive debut at the Harry Lang Invite, with two female Bulls placing in the Top-10. Stephanie Ward and Sylvia Russell were able to nab sixth and eighth place. Caleb Covell was the first male Bull to cross the finish line and claim an eighteenth place finish in his debut.
The Bulls have the most depth than they’ve ever had before, and Coach Mitchell is excited to see how they fare at the upcoming race.
The UB Stampede is set to begin at 10 a.m. Friday for the men, and 10:45 a.m. for the women in Amherst.
