Edwin Earl Carmer of Tonawanda, NY, passed into the presence of his Lord on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the Beechwood Continuing Care in Getzville, NY. He was born in Lockport, NY on November 1, 1925, the son of the late Harold C. and Anna L. [Bowen] Carmer.
Mr. Carmer was raised in Sanborn and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He served in the US Army during World War II. After the war he moved to Tonawanda where he lived for the past 63 years. Mr. Carmer was a electronic technician with Moore Research for many years, before retiring. He was a member of the Sanborn American Legion, S.A.H.S. and volunteered at the Chapel at CrossPoint. Mr. Carmer enjoyed playing the organ, camping, and roller skating.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Ruth [Williams] Carmer, three sons John Carmer, Scott (Jan) Carmer and Harold (Cheryl) Carmer, two daughters Cheryl (Pat) Sullivan and Catherine Carmer, ten grandchildren Kevin Sullivan, Matthew, Lauren and Danielle Carmer, Matthew, Greg and Adam Pisarski, Karen Hottle, Susan (Tim) Rooney and Sally (Anthony) Venditti, one brother Charles S. (Frances) Carmer, also many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Harold J. and Donald L. Carmer.
His family will be present on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, with an American Legion Service at 6:00 PM. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 12:00 PM at the Chapel at CrossPoint, 500 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville.
