BUFFALO – Erie County Sheriffs deputies made two drug arrests during separate traffic stops on Wednesday and Thursday.

The first took place at 1022 p.m. Wednesday in the Town of Evans when a deputy stopped a vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard for equipment violations. When the Deputy approached the vehicle he detected the odor of marijuana; the subsequent vehicle search discovered a glass pipe, a quantity of Suboxone, and marijuana.  Nicholas Lewis, 20, of Angola was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance not in the original container and equipment violations. The defendant was released on appearance tickets.

The second arrest was at 3:22 a.m. on Thursday in the Town of Brant as a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Route 438 after observing a traffic violation. When he approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana emanated from the cabin and a subsequent search discovered marijuana, Suboxone, and heroin.  Robert Deptula, 34, of Buffalo was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana and later released on appearance tickets.
