Canisius junior Erica Evans, former Canisius goaltender Allison Daley (‘11) and current Griffs assistant coach Kaylin Morissette (Louisville ‘16) have been selected to the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team at this summer’s 2017 Rathbones FIL Women’s Lacrosse World Cup from Guildford, England, the Canadian Lacrosse Association announced Thursday afternoon. The trio will join Canisius head coach Scott Teeter, who will be guiding Team Canada after winning Canada’s first women’s field lacrosse title at the 2015 FIL U-19 World Championship in Edinburgh, Scotland.

“We are extremely proud and excited to have three of our own playing for Team Canada this summer,” said Teeter. “We look forward to representing both Canisius and our Country, and feel that these three will be a tremendous addition to our roster.”

Evans, a two-time MAAC Midfielder of the year, earned All-World Team accolades at the 2015 FIL U-19 World Championship, leading Canada in scoring throughout the 10-day championship with 29 points and 24 goals in eight games. In 2016, Evans set new Canisius school records with 91 points and 72 goals, while also leading the Griffs with 81 draw controls, 47 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers. The Peterborough, Ontario native finished 2016 ranked third in goals nationally with 72, while ranking fifth in total points in the country. She also ranked second in goals per game (3.6) and sixth in points per game (4.55).

Daley, a former member of Canada’s U19 National Team, played for the Griffs from 2008-11 where she was an IWLCA Regional All-American, the 2010 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and three-time All-MAAC goalie. Daley holds a school record with 662 career saves, owns four of the top five single-season saves marks in the program’s history and twice ranked inside the top 10 nationally in save percentage, placing seventh in 2011 and 10th in 2010. The former Griff is currently working as an assistant on the Delaware women’s lacrosse staff.

Morissette, a three-time All-American at the University of Louisville, was named to the All-World Team during the 2011 U-19 Women’s Lacrosse World Championship, helping Team Canada to the bronze medal. She was then selected for the national team following her freshman campaign at Louisville, helping Canada to its first-ever silver-medal finish at the 2013 FIL World Cup. Morissette was named to the IWLCA All-America First Team in 2015 and 2016 after collecting second-team accolades in 2014. The Bowmanville, Ontario native finished her career ranked second all-time in NCAA history with 572 career draw controls, while also ranking second in the Louisville record book with 51 career assists, third with 218 points, third with 119 ground balls and fourth with 167 goals.

The players on the final roster, along with two alternates selected from the training squad at the conclusion of the NCAA season, will take part in a final training camp this spring, after which a condensed roster for the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland will be announced.
