POTSDAM — No. 9/10 Buffalo State exploded for five goals in the second period to erase an early deficit and seven different Bengals scored in a 7-3 victory over host Potsdam tonight in a SUNYAC contest at Maxcy Ice Arena.

Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) led the Bengals with a goal and two assists, while Anthony Beaumont (Lester, PA/Interboro) and Roberts Smits (Riga, Latvia) had a goal and an assist apiece. Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter), Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS), Jonathan Colley (Stouffville, ON/Stouffville District) and Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius) also scored for Buffalo State. Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and Darren Young (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s) had two assists each.

Potsdam opened the scoring just 1:20 into the contest and led 1-0 after the opening 20 minutes.
The two teams combined to score seven goals in a wild second period. It was Buffalo State’s turn to strike quickly in the second period as Passero found the back of the net just 24 seconds into the frame, and the Bengals would add two more in the opening five minutes. Pryce’s ninth of the season on the power-play just 1:20 later gave the Bengals their first lead, and Wood tallied his ninth of the year less than three minutes later to extend the lead. Potsdam responded with two goals just 33 seconds apart midway through the period to even the score, but Smits and Beaumont would each score to reclaim a two-goal lead for the Bengals before the second intermission. Colley potted his first collegiate goal in the third period and Remers tacked on an empy-netter in the final minute to complete the scoring. Buffalo State held a narrow 35-34advantage in shots on goal.  Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) made 31 stops in the win.
