WHEATFIELD — A 35-year-old Wheatfield man was charged Friday evening with aggravated driving while intoxicated following a crash on River Road.

According to New York State Police, Troopers were called to the scene of a two car property damage accident that occurred at approximately 7 p.m. at River and York roads.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed that one of the operators, Eric Lambert, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and concluded him to be intoxicated following field sobriety tests. Lambert was then transported to SP Niagara for processing where a breath test showed his blood alcohol content to be .27 percent.

Lambert was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation due to having a suspended license. He was arraigned in the Town of Wheatfield Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of bail.
