BUFFALO — With 17 options to choose from All WNY News readers have chosen Danny’s Restaurant as the winner of the 2017 All WNY Award for Best Soup.
Danny’s, which has locations in Cheektowaga and Orchard Park, beat out 99 Fast Food, Agave, Ashker’s, Blackthorn Restaurant, Doc Sullivans, Fat Bob’s, Globe Market, Joe’s Deli, Lenox Grill, Nathan’s, Olympia Grill, Open Face, S.E.A. (South East Asian), Sato, Scripts, and Village Inn.
Danny’s has been serving its famous Buffalo Chicken Wing Soup for nearly a decade. It’s a daily option as one of four soups on the restaurant’s soup and salad bar.
The restaurant’s website says, “At first people lifted an eye up, questioned our spelling, and wondered how we got the bones out. Then we started to have it out more frequently. Customers asked more and more, ‘when are you gonna have it again.’ We then started to bring it out to festivals, caters, and special events. It got to be so big and requested that we decided to have it out every Wednesday. Well people waited for it to come out and got so busy on Wednesdays that we had no choice but to have it out everyday.”
They go through 20-50 gallons of the stuff each day between their two locations, and offer it for takeout by the bowl, gallon or 5 gallons.
