Four Buffalo State teams are in postseason play this weekend, as men’s and women’s hockey and men’s basketball are in their conference’s semifinal contests while men’s and women’s indoor track and field is competing at the SUNYAC Championships.
Here is everything you need to know about Buffalo State’s playoff weekend:
Men’s Basketball
No. 5 men’s basketball gets the weekend action started with its SUNYAC Semifinal at No. 1 Oswego tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
The Bengals (17-8, 10-8) earned a trip to take on the Lakers after downing Cortland in the conference quarters, 61-59.
Buffalo State was led by Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) who finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) added a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards and Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe’s) chipped in nine points.
No. 1 Oswego (19-6, 15-3) hosts the conference championships after winning the regular-season title. The Lakers defeated the Bengals in both of its matchups this season, but both games were decided by just one point.
The winner will face the winner of No. 2 Brockport and No. 3 Oneonta on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Oswego.
Tickets for the games are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-12 and free for children ages four and younger. Students of SUNYAC-member schools will be able to get one complimentary ticket with a valid college ID. Tickets are available at tickets.oswego.edu or by calling (315)-312-3073.

Men’s Hockey
Nationally-ranked No. 13/14 and fourth-seeded men’s hockey is also traveling to Oswego to take on the No. 2 team in D III and first-seeded Lakers in the SUNYAC Semifinals this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Marano Campus Center Arena.
Buffalo State earned the trip to Oswego after knocking off Fredonia, 2-1 in the conference quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Ice Arena. Freshman Roberts Smits (Riga, Latvia) had a goal and an assist and Colin O’Connor added a tally as the Bengals advance to the conference semifinals for the sixth-consecutive season.
Oswego (18-7-1, 9-6-1) and Buffalo State split its season-series this year. The Bengals picked up a 5-1 victory over then No. 1 Oswego on Dec. 10, the first win over a team ranked No. 1 in the nation in school history. The Lakers got revenge with a 6-1 win on its senior night on Feb. 18.
The winner will face the winner of No. 3 Geneseo and No. 2 Plattsburgh. The game will be played on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Women’s Hockey
Women’s hockey is headed back to the ECAC West Semifinals, as the No. 3 Bengals shut out No. 6 Potsdam 4-0 at the Buffalo State Ice Arena Thursday evening; the first playoff win in program history.
Buffalo State (17-7-2, 11-6-1) got a hat trick from Natasha Steinle (Morrison, CO/CIHA)
and Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, CA/Arroyo) made 22 stops as the Bengals advanced to take on No. 2 Elmira on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Elmira (17-4-4, 14-2-2) will host the game after finishing as the second-best team in the conference. The Soaring Eagles swept the season-series this year.
The winner of this game will take on the winner of No. 4 Elmira and No. 1 Plattsburgh on Saturday, March 4, in the conference championships. Time of the contest is still to be determined and will be played at the highest remaining seed.

Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field
Men’s and women’s indoor track and field is set to compete at the SUNYAC Indoor Championships this Friday and Saturday at Brockport’s Special Events Recreation Center.
Competition begins at 3 p.m. on Friday and continues at 10 a.m. on Saturday. A full schedule of events can be found here.
Both teams are looking to continue its run of recent success at the conference level. The men’s team is looking to win its third title in the past seven seasons, and placed second last year. The women’s team finished third a year ago, and has won the conference championships in four of the past eight seasons.
