BUFFALO — The Mid-American Conference announced their postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon with the Bulls earning three nods. Senior JoAnna Smith led the way earning Second Team All-MAC honors while Stephanie Reid earned All-Defensive team honors and Summer Hemphill earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.

Smith earned All-MAC recognition for the second straight season after being named First Team All-MAC a season ago. The senior has been the catalyst for the Bulls offense all season long as she is averaging a team-high 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals through 30 games. Smith has scored in double figures 24 times this season while going over the 20-point plateau 12 times and the 30-point plateau twice. She has connected on a team-high 87 three pointers which currently ranks fourth most in a single season in program history. On the defensive end of the court, she has created 47 steals this season, ranking second on the team.

The senior has put together an impressive career for the Bulls as she has collected the most wins by any UB player since the Bulls joined the MAC in 1998-99 (77). Smith continues to drive up the scoring charts as she currently sits in seventh place with 1,364 career points, just 19 points shy of moving into sixth place on the all-time charts. She also ranks third in program history in three pointers made (206) and seventh in field goals made (481). Through 119 career games, Smith ranks 11th in program history in free throw percentage as she is converting on 72.9% of her freebies.

Reid collects All-Defensive team honors for the second straight season as she has turned into the best exterior defender in the conference as a junior. The pesky defender causes headaches for opposing point guards with her relentless hustle and heart on the defensive end of the court. The junior has collected 62 steals through 30 games (2.1/game) while also forcing more turnovers due to her constant pressure on the ball. Reid is also averaging 11.3 points, 7.4 assists (6th in the NCAA) and 2.3 rebounds on the season while playing a team-high 32.4 minutes/game. The junior set the program record for assists in a single season as she currently has 222 helpers while she also tied the program record for assists in a game when she dished out 16 helpers against Ball State earlier this season.

Hemphill came on strong during her freshman campaign for the Bulls as she earned a spot on the All-Freshman team, first member of the Bulls to earn that honor since Alexus Malone in 2013-14. The Buffalo native averaged 6.1 points, a team-high 7.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals across an average of 21.6 minutes/game. The athletic forward earned 10 starts for the Bulls while leading the team in rebounding a team-high 15 times this season. Hemphill has recorded six double figure scoring games and six double figure rebounding games while leading UB with four double-doubles on the season. She set a Buffalo freshman record against Ohio as she snagged a career-best 17 rebounds to go along with 15 points.
