
BUFFALO — Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) scored five times to lead 12 Bengal goal scorers as visiting Buffalo State spoiled D’Youville’s first-ever varsity women’s lacrosse game today with a 21-1 victory.
Krowel led the Bengals with seven points, including two assists. Kyra Thompson (Massena/Salmon River) added three goals and an assist, while Alanna Herne (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) had a goal and six assists. Madz Wright (Grand Island/Grand Island), Christina Standinger (Palmyra/Palmyra-Macedon) and Emily Wolcott (Grand Island/Grand Island) netted two goals apiece. Cassie Saint-Vil (Middletown/Middletown) and Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) tallied a goal and two assists apiece, and Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier), Audia Murphy (Syracuse/Corcoran), Abigail Tolley (Amherst/Clarence) and Nina Schaefer (Lafayette/Lafayette) also scored for the Bengals. Buffalo State took control early and never looked back, cruising to a 13-0 halftime advantage. After trading goals to open the second half, Buffalo State scored the final seven goals to close out the game. The Bengals finished with a 31-6 advantage in shot attempts. Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made three saves in goal for the win.
The Bengals will host Lycoming and head coach Karen Shaddock (Buffalo State’s all-time leading scorer) on Monday at 3:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved due to extreme cold and wind in the forecast.
