TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Transit Drive-In owner Rick Cohen planned to open the theater for the 2017 season on Friday with the highly anticipated “Beauty and the Beast.”
Then the storm warnings started coming in earlier this week and Cohen announced the drive-in would open for the season on March 24 — with the same lineup, which also included “The Belko Experiment,” “Power Rangers.”
But the beautiful weather truly turned beast and Lockport was hit with more than two feet of snow over the past 48 hours. Now Cohen is looking at possibly postponing for another week.
“Have to see if we have a warm up,” Cohen said today. “The parking lot is blanketed with over two feet of snow.”
“Weather goes up and down this time of year,” he said. “My main concern is that the parking lot is accessible and not flooded. … If there’s enough melt off, and minimal flooding, we’ll reopen.”
