The Purple Eagles baseball team heads to Ohio for a three-game series with the Bowling Green Falcons Saturday and Sunday.

Niagara played a three-game series with Marshall March 10-12. The Purple Eagles won the first game, 9-3, and fell to the Herd in the remaining games by scores of 5-4 and 9-6. Peter Battaglia went 6-for-15 at the plate and led Niagara with a .400 batting average over the series. He also had a team-high seven RBI. Following his performance against Marshall, Battaglia was named MAAC Rookie of the Week.

Battaglia is batting a team-best .346. He is tied with Greg Cullen for most hits on the team with 18. He is second on the team with 12 RBI. Cullen leads the Purple Eagles with 13 RBI. Cullen has a team-high two homeruns and is second on the team in runs scored with 12. Tanner Kirwer leads the team in runs scored (14), doubles (10) and stolen bases (nine). On the mound, Daniel Procopio (2-1) has a team-high 21.0 innings pitched and 24 strikeouts. He has allowed only 12 hits and has an ERA of 3.00. Matthew Brash (2-0) is second in innings pitched (19.0) and strikeouts (18). He has an ERA of 2.84.

Infielder Greg Basalyga leads the team with 11 RBI and is batting a team-best .289. Randy Righter, an infielder, has a team-high 14 hits and catcher Jeff Scott has a team-high eight runs scored. Tyler Anderson (1-2) has the most innings pitched with 22.1 and has an ERA of 2.01. Chase Antle (0-0) has a team-high 15 strikeouts and has allowed eight hits and no runs in 11.2 innings pitched.

Following their series with Bowling Green, the Purple Eagles return to Western New York for a doubleheader with Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure in Olean on Tuesday.
