BUFFALO — The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) has announced its Men’s CCM Hockey Division II-III All-Americans and has tabbed Buffalo State goalie Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) with third team honors.
The senior business major becomes just the third Buffalo State hockey player to garner All-America honors, joining forward Todd Nowicki (second team in 2001-02) and goalie Kevin Carr (third team in 2013-14).
DeLaVergne was also named the SUNYAC Goalie of the Year after backstopping Buffalo State to a program single-season record of 18 wins to go with a school-record 1.98 goals against average (10th-best in Division III) and .927 save percentage (18th in D-III) as the Bengals advanced to the SUNYAC Semifinals for the sixth-consecutive year.
The senior also set career school records with a .926 save percentage and a 2.23 goals against average while posting a record of 37-18-8.
A Buffalo State Scholar-Athlete Award winner, DeLaVergne is currently working to finish his degree while simultaneously playing professional hockey with the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
