SUNRISE, Fla. — In the penultimate game of the Buffalo Sabres 2016-2017 season, the Sabres primary weakness were on display as they failed to score in 60 minutes of hockey.

The Sabres got 30 shots on net against James Reimer, but none went in. Meanwhile three of the 37 shots Robin Lehner went in crossed the goal line.

Jonathan Huberdeau scored two of Florida’s three goals — both assisted by Jaromir Jagr. The Panthers first goal was scored by Nick Bjugstad, assisted for former Sabre Thomas Vanek and Reilly Smith.

With the loss, Buffalo remains at 78 points, dropping them a point behind Florida and putting them in the bottom third of the league. Another loss on Sunday, coupled with wins by Dallas and Detroit, could land Buffalo in the 26th slot — or fifth-worst.

The Sabres play their final game of the season at 5 p.m. Sunday against the Tampa Lightning in Tampa.
