Zack Granite reached base and scored in each of his first three plate appearances and David Hurlbut allowed two runs over 6.0 innings as the Rochester Red Wings snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-2 win over the Norfolk Tides Friday night at Harbor Park.

Granite gave the Red Wings (24-25) an early advantage after leading off the game with a triple against Tides (22-32) Jordan Kipper (2-1). Granite scored one batter later on a Mitch Garver sacrifice fly.

Norfolk responded against Hurlbut (3-3) as David Washington’s two-out, two-run double gave the Tides a 2-1 lead.

Rochester regained the lead with four runs in the 3rd to make it 5-2. The Wings used five singles, three never left the infield, highlighted by Matt Hague and Niko Goodrum each driving in a pair of runs.

Granite doubled and scored in the 4th to extend the lead to 6-2. Kipper was pulled after surrendering six runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 3.1 innings.

Hurlbut (3-3) settled in after a rough 1st, retiring 14 of the final 15 batters he faced. He allowed six hits, four of which were doubles, and did not issue a walk while striking out two. Drew Rucinski (2 IP) and Michael Tonkin (1 IP) fired scoreless relief to secure the victory.

Hague reached base four times, finishing 2-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, two RBI and a run scored. Granite and Tommy Field each went 2-for-4.
