Nancy Louise Ayre Dayer of Lockport, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Born in 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to James and Julia (Carpenter) Ayre, she attended Wilkes-Barre Business College before serving for two years in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 as a Pharmacist’s Mate Third Class. She subsequently attended Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing until her 1948 marriage to Lockport native Donald P. Dayer, who died in 1989.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Barbara Dayer Gallati and son-in-law Dr. Norman Taylor, of Bristol, England; her brother, James Ayre, of Carlisle, PA; her nieces, Elizabeth (Edward) Boyer of Dillsburg, PA and Julianne (John) Bishard of Mechanicsburg, PA.; and their children Maxwell Boyer and Autumn Bishard. A service for family and friends will be held at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, on Friday, August 18, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Emanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue, Lockport, NY, 14094.
