We have got to insist that there be no more apartment buildings or hotels built in Amherst.  Our Town has been ravished by developer after developer trying to turn Amherst into a business mecca. The people who came here originally for good schools, beautiful relaxing scenes of nature, a safe place to live and to raise their children, do not want more traffic or increased density of buildings.

Beastly developers have turned our town into a dirty little hell hole where prostitution is on the rise due to high class hotels being the lure, increased density of traffic, and our local government is corrupt.

The public goes before the three judging boards in our town: the Town Board, Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, with reasons why a certain building shouldn’t be built near them giving many solid reasons.  It doesn’t matter what the people say to any of these control boards.  It just doesn’t matter.  The residents are consistently ignored and voted down. This is how our boards, as well as previous Town Boards, gave away our hope of living within the conditions that drew us here.

What caused these changes in our Town of Amherst lifestyle?  Greedy builders taking over our greenspace and leaving our town vulnerable to massive flooding due to the lack of trees and grass.
Soon there will be 4 new hotels.  They are being built now.  They will cause more traffic and congestion, sewage problems, and our Waste Water Treatment Plant cannot handle the rain and additional sewage.  The result will be flooded basements, houses tilting and no relief for these two major problems.

The public has been told our taxes go down as new construction is built.  That is a pipedream and has not happened in recent history.
