GERRY — A 33-year-old Gerry man was arrested this morning on numerous charges following a domestic incident complaint.
According to New York State Police, Troopers stationed out of SP Jamestown charged Richard Sendall with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say that at 9:30 a.m., Troopers at SP Jamestown took a walk in complaint from a 31-year-old female reporting a violent domestic at her residence. Further investigation revealed that the female was unlawfully restrained at gunpoint with two young children within the residence. NYSP established a perimeter around the Wilson Street, Gerry, NY residence. Sendall was taken peacefully into custody after surrendering. The young children were located in good health. Loaded firearms were seized from the Sendall residence. He was arrested and taken to SP Jamestown for processing, during which he was having a medical emergency. Troopers administered aid and he was taken to Jamestown hospital for treatment.
Sendall will be arraigned once he is released from Jamestown hospital.
NYSP used multiple assets to bring this situation to a peaceful resolve. NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Special Operations Response Team and hostage negotiators were used in this incident.
