CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

Canisius head men’s basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon announced Wednesday that the Golden Griffins have joined the field of the 2018 AdvoCare Invitational, which is set to be played Nov. 22-25 at HP Field House at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Canisius will join Charleston, Florida State, LSU, Memphis, Oklahoma State, UAB and Villanova in the AdvoCare Invitational field. This will mark the first time the Griffs have participated in this Thanksgiving-holiday event.

“This is an exciting time for us to be a part of a tremendous event against high-level programs with great tradition,” Witherspoon said. “We are delighted to be chosen to represent the conference in one of the nation’s most high-profile holiday tournaments.”

The AdvoCare Invitational just wrapped up its 12th year, as West Virginia won the tournament’s crown.
