ALDEN — A 47-year-old Alden woman was charged Sunday with driving while intoxicated with a child in the car — Leandra’s Law.

According to New York State Police, Troopers observed a vehicle speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign while on Crittenden Road. The driver, Deanna Carhart, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI.  There was a 9-year-old child in the vehicle. The child was turned over to a family member. Carhart provided a breath sample of .10 percent. She was charged with aggravated DWI with a child (Leandra’s law), a felony and released with a return court date in Alden Court.
