AMHERST — New Road is a county road which the county has no intention of doing any improvements to like widening of this road or re-paving it for years to come.
The road is a total of 3.39 miles long. To widen this road and pave it would cost $3 million dollars per mile. The county doesn’t have the money to do this.
This winter left many county roads in bad shape and these roads come first. A developer who would want to build homes on the road would have to do road improvements themselves.
This road cannot be re-mediated with dirt from another source. By law wetlands deemed as real wetlands by the DEC and the Corp of Engineers cannot be re-mediated.
