The Niagara University women’s lacrosse team concludes its three-game road stretch when it faces the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday, April 7.
Last Time Out
- Despite getting off to a quick 3-1 lead in the opening five minutes, the Purple Eagles fell on the road to Fairfield 13-10.
- Rachel MacCheyne led the team offensively with three goals and an assist while Caroline Crump and Shea Swartwout both recorded two goals each.
- Hailey D’Hont led the team defensively with three ground balls and one caused turnover and MacCheyne collected nine draw controls.
- Aubrey DeVeau made 14 saves in net for the Purple Eagles.

- Niagara leads the MAAC in ground balls per game (21.60) and ranks third in goals per game (11.80), points per game (16.20), draw controls per game (12.80), shots per game (29.00), shots on goal per game (20.90), and caused turnovers per game (10.40).
- Rachel MacCheyne leads the team with 35 goals and ranks tied for first in the conference in points per game (4.00), first in the conference in shots per game (7.70), and third in the MAAC in goals per game (3.20) and draw controls per game (6.10). She has scored three or more goals in eight of Niagara’s 11 games.
- Caroline Crump ranks second on the team in goals (25), points (35), and shots (67). She is tied for first on the team with Grace Hunt in assists with 10.
- Lauren Paul is fourth in the conference with 3.33 ground balls per game and 1.44 caused turnovers per game, respectively.
Chasing Milestones
- Rachel MacCheyne became the third member of the 100-goal club for Niagara on Tuesday, March 27 at Rutgers. She currently has 104 career goals, third all-time behind Mary Cutia (171) and Megan McNerney (128).
- Caroline Crump has 86 career goals and is on pace to reach the 100-goal mark by season’s end.
- Alexandra Higgins broke the career record for caused turnovers on March 24 against Iona. She currently has 73 career caused turnovers. She also currently ranks second all-time in ground balls with 141 for her career, only six away from tying Kara Martin’s record 147 career ground balls. Higgins is the active leader in career draw controls with 245.
On the Field: Manhattan Jaspers (3-8, 0-3 MAAC)
- Manhattan enters Saturday’s contest on a six-game losing streak and have lost its first three MAAC games by a combined score of 41-17.
- Niagara won last year’s contest 13-10 at home.
- Sarah Lang leads the team in goals (25), shots (47), and shots on goal (38) while ranking second in points (30).
- Molly Fitzpatrick leads the team with 31 points (18 g, 13 a)
