UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO ATHLETICS
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Head coach Nate Oats has announced the signing of Tra’Von Fagan for the upcoming 2018-19 season. A native of Waterloo, IA, Fagan played last season at Florida Southwestern State College and he will have three years of eligibility left starting next season.
Fagan is 6-8, 200-pound forward, who averaged 9.5 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in his freshman season at Florida Southwestern State, where he helped the Buccaneers to the NJCAA Quarterfinals and a 30-3 overall record. He was named to the NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team as well as a second-team All-Suncoast Conference selection.
Fagan scored in double figures 17 times over the season, including 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting, as well as eight rebounds, against No. 11 and defending national champions Hutchinson Community College. He has his biggest game of the season on Dec. 30 against Bryant & Stratton College (WI) with 24 points and 16 rebounds.
Fagan played at Cedar Falls High School where he was a first-team All-State selection and a first-team All-MVC selection. Fagan was also named the KBBG Cedar Valley Athlete of the Year. During his senior season at Cedar Falls, Fagan averaged 19.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
“We are very excited to add Tray’von to our program,” said Oats. “He is a versatile forward that can play multiple positions and he fits our up tempo style of play perfectly. Tray’von is a high-character individual who was a qualifier out of high school, but had to fight through some adversity due to injury. We value the toughness, perseverance, and maturity that he gained through that experience and he will be a great addition to the group we have here on campus.”
Fagan joins a recruiting class that already includes fellow junior college transfer Javion Hamlet, as well as incoming freshmen Jeenathan Williams and Ronaldo Segu.
