BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Canisius rowing program finished its 2018 spring regular season on Sunday, as the Griffs hosted the Black Rock Cup on the Black Rock Canal at West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, N.Y. The regatta involved boats from Drake, RIT and Robert Morris.
The Griffs’ first varsity eight consisting of Misa Gamble, Max McGuire, Sydney Bichsel , Brooke Stanley, Tara Federow, Shannon Pritzker, Jessica Fabian, Patricia Beaulieu, Alexandra Heinz reached the finals, placing first out of two boats in that heat with a time of 7:05.79 before going on to win in the finals with a time of 7:08:00.

The Golden Griffins second varsity eight made-up of Grace Horner, Mackenzie App, Emma Vicaretti, Cat Gallagher, Bridget Lillis, Audrey Rieman, Madeline Kurka, Michelle Turner, Melissa Frank finished first out of three vessels in Heat 1 of the preliminaries, coming in with a time of 7:19.41 before finishing second in the finals, clocking in at 7:24.87.

The Blue and Gold’s varsity four comprised of Gianna Ortolani, Andrea Kraft, Sara Ruszczyk, Anezka Krobot, Hannah Whelan came in first out of three boats in the only heat of the day with a time of 8:19.97.

The Blue and Gold’s second varsity four comprised of Brittany Gorczyca, Andrea Kraft, Soleil Kouandjio, Bridget Brogan, Hannah Whelan came in second out of two boats the only heat with a time of 8:54.61.

Sunday was also Senior Day and marks the last home regatta for eight seniors: Mackenzie App,Patricia Beaulieu, Melissa Frank, Kathryn Hobika, Grace Horner, Andrea Kraft, Madeline Kurka and Brooke Stanley.
