This week’s featured event is The Jumpers.
“The Jumpers are one of those bands that helped define an era in Buffalo. That era was roughly 1977-1981 in Buffalo, when the Jumpers crushed the audiences with a combination of power pop hooks and just plain rock ‘n roll power. They were concurrent with the punk rock movement, but were never narrowly defined by it.” – Buffalo Music Hall of Fame “One band enamored with the idea of taking things into their own hands was the Jumpers, a quintet of Buffalo boys – Terry Sullivan, Scott Michaels, Roger Nicol, Craig Meylan, Bob Kozak – that quickly became the main draw at McVan’s. The group’s sound was raw, visceral, but tuneful.” – The Buffalo News If you haven’t caught on yet, The Jumpers earned themselves status as a local legend. It’s not often you get to see a band that helped shape a local generation in the music scene about 40 years ago! But, this Friday August 16th they take the stage once more at Buffalo’s Mohawk Place. Stationwagon kicks off the night with doors at 8:00pm. Only a $7 cover for this Ages 18 or older event. “The Jumpers weren’t just one of the first and best bands of Buffalo’s punk rock era, they were one of Buffalo’s best ever.”
