A 38 year old Canandaigua man was charged with petit larceny on June 1, 2018 after a call to police about a missing wallet.


According to New York State Troopers, officers were dispatched to the TA truck stop in Pembroke on May 29, 2018, for report of money stolen from a wallet that was accidentally left at the counter by a customer. The victim reported that he returned to locate his wallet and was missing $103.00 that was previously in the wallet. Video surveillance and positive identification lead to development of a suspect. Matthew Hyland admitted to the larceny and that he wanted to return the money to the owner.  Hyland turned himself into Troopers at SP Batavia on June 1st.


Hyland was arrested, charged with petit larceny, and released on an appearance ticket for the town of Pembroke Court in June, 2018.
