Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another album review! PSYCHO-FRAME released their latest offering on July 25,2025 and I totally slept on it. SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER is their first full length album and it is GREAT!
PYSCHO-FRAME have this signature sound that is mixed way up front, loud and just plain angry at all times. Their band name, song titles and even album titles are all have caps lock in when being named! I love when bands show emotion and anger in this way! Even their snare drum sound is aggressive and ever present, especially during the breakdowns and slower tempo beat downs. I’m not sure who makes them so mad, but damn they are pissed! I’ll bet that guys named Kyle just love drinking monster and putting holes in their walls to this music.
I just started getting into more “brutal” branded bands and music over the last year or so, and I think this brand of deathcore really falls in line. It may not have grind inspired stuff, but holy crap does it always go heavy, hard and aggressive at all times. The best part about this whole album is that it is so easy to headbang to. It’s straight forward, brutal and always has a groove. I also really like that the vocals in this album are have plenty of diversity but are not a vocal gymnastics routine as some of the deathcore these days has devolved into. This band has two vocalists but still doesn’t feel the need to over do it!
My favorite track is APOCALYPSE THROUGH LYSERGIC POSSESSION by far. It starts with this techy shred guitar line and gravity blast beats which they haven’t shown much of throughout this album so far. This slowly devolves into a quick breakdown before moving into the main riff of the track. It’s a very fast blast beat filled passage with a super catchy riff that is choppy and brutal. The breakdown after this has these super fast and melodic guitar breaks that are perfectly well balanced.
Overall I would give this album a 9/10, its angry, brutal and heavy as can be! PSYCHO-FRAME really delivered with their first full length and deserve all of the praise I have been seeing.
