Their are two Wolves. Actually, Niagara Falls Americans head coach Paul Wolf just serves double duty. And Tuesday night, his two teams — the Americans and the Buffalo Diesel — played each other at Sal Maglie Stadium.
Obviously, Wolf couldn’t actively manage two teams during the same game, so while Wolf coached the Buffalo team, Assistant Manager Wil Cordero managed the Americans to a 3-1 win.
Thanks to solid baserunning and an error by the Diesel, the Americans got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning without even recording a hit. They tacked on two more runs in the second for a 3-0 lead.
The Diesel refused to be shut out, finally getting on the board in the seventh inning for a 3-1 final.
The Americans are on the road for three games, taking on the Niagara Ironbacks on Wednesday, the Auburn Doubledays on Thursday and the Geneva Red Wings on Friday before returning home for a Saturday doubleheader against the Elmira Pioneers.
