The Niagara Falls Americans were good hosts to the Batavia Muckdogs on Independence Day — too good of hosts, actually.

Batavia beat out the home team 7-2 while racking up double digits in the hits column.

The Muckdogs took a formidable 4-run lead in their very first at bat, then tacked on another run in the third inning.

Niagara Falls finally got on the scoreboard with a single run in the fourth inning.

Batavia scored another run in the seventh and then another in the eighth for a 7-1 lead.

The Americans ninth-inning rally died after just one run.

In a rare back-to-back-to-back, the Americans return to Batavia on Saturday for the rubber match, having won the first game on Thursday.
