The Town of Tonawanda Police Department responded to a call Thursday evening on Thurston Avenue for a report of an individual with a gun.

According to a release from the police department, “patrols located a male, alone outside of the residence holding a shotgun.” The man “appeared to be having a mental health crisis,” according to the release. He eventually put the gun down without incident.

No one was injured and the male was transported to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation.

Police say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
