BUFFALO POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES an arrest was made Sunday, September 1, 2024 in connection with property damage to City Hall and terroristic threats.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., Central district officers responded to a call of a man smashing windows at City Hall with a hammer. The man broke twelve glass windows of the historic building, each valued at approximately $1,000. He also broke six glass panes of a revolving door. As the man was apprehended, he made threatening comments about the Mayor of the City of Buffalo.
Antonio Nunes, 40, of Buffalo has been charged one count NYS PL 490.20-1, Making a Terroristic Threat, a class D felony; six counts NYS PL 145.10, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, a class D felony; twelve counts NYS PL 145.05-2, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a class E felony; and one count NYS PL 140.35, Possession of Burglar Tools, a class A misdemeanor.
None of the offenses are bail eligible. Nunes was arraigned this morning and released from custody. A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was then granted by the Honorable Judge Kevin Carter..
Damage done to a building on the 200 block of Delaware Avenue remains under investigation.
