Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another album review! This time I bring to your attention Overspace and Supertime by Cryptic Shift. This psychedelic, and sci-fi death metal album came out on February 27th, 2026 via Metalblade Records.
I can’t believe it took me this long to finally give this album a listen. I kept on seeing this album shared and recommended on the death metal sharing Facebook page, so I owe the fine folks there for showing me this one. I really enjoyed this album, it’s super dense with a ton of direction changes all the time. On top of that there are typically multiple layers of things at once. The way they go from Thrash, death metal, prog sections and even some more technical death metal sections seamlessly is really impressive.
I would give Overspace and Supertime a 8.5/10 on my own personal ranking scale. This will definitely be in my rotation for a while. I am mad I didn’t find this sooner, but happy that I eventually gave it a listen. Go check this out and listen, stream and even buy it if you love it! Links to streaming and socials will be below!
