Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another single from Psyclops! Their newest single Consequences I-III is set to be released on March 20th, 2026 and it rips! I am hooked on this as well as their first single which I wrote about previously.
Consequences I-III is another three part single which is combined into one blistering track. The first part, which is called Instinct to Survive, is conveying a panic attack that our main character is having regarding a life or death situation. This is conveyed through some shallow fast breathing to start the track followed by some rather unsettling guitar riffage with blast beats over top. The highlight for me is the guitar solo at before the setup for movement two. It is some serious Paul Waggoner worship(to my ears at least) and it is pulled off masterfully.
The second section, which is called Wisdom from the Wise, is this really cool voice acted section talking about said consequences of disobeying orders. The whole dialogue is a flashback. This really set up the universe of this concept album for me personally. I knew it was a concept with a graphic novel(which I will definitely be purchasing!) to follow along with. This whole spoken section made me feel like I was in a sci-fi shooter video game like Borderlands or Rage getting mission feedback and I love it. The whole section has this underlying guitar chord passage along with this chilled out double bass drum beat.
The third movement, which is called Seallowed Skies, Sea of Eyes, returns to present day. This portion is about our main character dealing with dehydration, hallucinations after a powerful firestorm! The first half of the track is frantic as all hell, the second portion is such a mellowed out passage that concludes with another ridiculous guitar solo. This time being over a much slower paced section with a super groovy part underneath. This ramps up before subsiding as the track ends.
This may only be the second single we get from Psyclops but man does it rip! Three movements of pure sci-fi bliss that has me super excited for the whole release. As always if you like this music listen to it, stream it and buy it! Links to streaming and socials will be below!
