Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another album review. This time I bring to your attention Eigenstate Zero yet again with his latest new album called A Thousand Blind Windows. This album was released on January 23rd, 2026 “impromptu” by the mastermind behind Eigenstate Zero, Christian Ludvigsson.
Eigenstate Zero, as I’ve mentioned in my review of his last album (https://technicalmusicreview.com/2025/02/15/shape-of-god-though-of-sun/) is a one man band. This guy does all of the vocals, guitars, bass and drums himself. The amazing part is the sheer amount of quality material has has produced over the last four years. This is his fourth album in under four years and is right around an hour of music. That is a nutty amount of music for ANYONE to write, record and release. The kicker is he has his sixth album all but ready to come out as well!
I first heard of this madman’s project after his album in 2023 came out well before I started writing here with Dave. I was amazed by just how dense and almost overwhelming his sound is. It isn’t even the layers of sound that is overwhelming, it’s the harmonies and cacophonous atmosphere and vibe he creates. I would almost call this combination of elements avant-garde. I find this so intriguing and my brain just wants to absorb it all at once. After a few listens and I learn the form, harmonies and highlights I can truly begin to appreciate this music. I have always loved complex aspects of music like this and it just draws me right in!
My highlight track from this new effort is Moloch!(the exclamation point is part of the song title.). This track starts off with this technical and melodic death metal groove but has Christian’s trademark harmonies. The chorus passage of this track has a super creepy yet elegant operatic quality. Christian enlisted the help of a local singer to do that part!
Overall I would give A Thousand Blind Windows a 9/10! Christian is just writing and recording music at a inhuman pace and I can’t wait to hear what he has cooked up for his next album. Right now this album is only on Bandcamp and I’m not sure if he has plans to release on other streaming services down the line!
