Finland’s own Enragement has dropped another brutal banger titled “Extinguish All Existence”. The album dropped October 3rd on Transcending Obscurity Records. The band arrived on my musical radar with 2022’s album “Atrocities”. For those unfamiliar with Enragement, they’re a brutal death metal band with some technical moments. The vocalist has a solid range and the drumming is also very solid. Lots of sick fills, quick foot work and steady grooves when it slows down. It has some filthy, grimy brutal riffs across all speeds.
TSO has a diverse roster of extreme metal bands and Enragement is another solid band on it. While being 2025, the band throws it back to the 90’s brutal death metal style musically speaking. Constant blast beats, some sickening double bass grooves and unrelenting slams. This isn’t an overproduced modern album with a fresh coat of paint. While the mix is good, it still brings me back to the best era of the genre. It shows you can have a good mix and master on a brutal death metal album, but not be too thin with zero punch.
Finland does pop up with some solid death metal bands on occasion. Morbific being my favorite band of newer Finnish bands. Enragement is also very solid with concise songwriting. It’s a ten track affair at 40 minutes, maybe slightly overstaying its welcome for those with short attention spans. For a guy like me who enjoys 60-90 minute progressive albums, song and album length has never bothered me. As long as the music and songs are solid, with some solid flow it’s fine with me. A lot of people think these albums should be 30-35 minutes which I can agree with. Enragement held my attention for the whole album and isn’t much filler on the album.
It’s a pummeling affair that will please many death metal fans. I think it’s a solid upgrade from the previous album “Atrocities”. Definitely give it a shot above by listening and consider purchasing merch through the label.
