Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another album preview! This time I bring to your attention the band Unaligned and their upcoming album A Form Beyond. This release is coming out shortly on September 12th, 2025 via Transcending Obscurity Records who have done some amazing work with so many good bands this year!
So I’ve got to be up front about something, I was a little apprehensive about this one because the categorization is Blackened Tech Death for Unaligned. For whatever reason Black Metal doesn’t typically grab my ear, but I will always check new material out. Boy Howdy I’m glad I checked this album out, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Unaligned are really masters at playing at super fast BPM(Beat Per Minute) but making it still groove really well. I found myself headbanging at all times on every track and everytime I went through the album.
While the whole band did a fantastic job on this, the two things that stuck out immensely were the drumming and vocals. Jack Blackburn (Killitorous, ex-Inferi) may have the best drumming I’ve heard so far this year. The place he has in the mix, the quality of the sound and pure chops he displays are as amazing. Plus he must have about a thousand toms on his kit, because his fills very detailed and go on forever it seems like!
Andrew Guia is the vocalist for this band he sound incredible to say the least. His lows remind me ALOT of Johnny Davy (Job for a Cowboy) but with a unique spin. His shrieking highs have this visceral and raw quality about them. Be on the lookout for my interview with him, coming out mid week, next week!
I usually like to highlight a particular track that is my favorite, this time I’d say Entities of Ash. It it s perfect way to kick off the album and set everyone up for a great list. I think the whole album is very steady and full of quality from front to back. To me this album is a very solid 9/10 and will be in my rotation for quite a while!
