Buffalo Police Department announces two arrests were made in connection with an assault that occurred near Gallagher Beach last month that was circulated widely on social media.

On Aug. 3, A District officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. to an assault call at Tifft Street and Fuhrmann Boulevard. Witnesses stated a victim was sucker punched from behind, slammed on his head, and struck dozens of times while unconscious by multiple assailants. The victim’s car was also damaged.

Detectives immediately began an investigation and suspects were identified.

Louis Bodine, 20, of Buffalo was arrested on Aug. 5 and charged with one count NYS PL 120.10-1, Assault in the First Degree, a class B felony and one count NYS PL 145.05-2, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a class E felony.

Ryland Schloerb, 21, of Tonawanda was arrested on Aug. 19, and charged with one count NYS PL 120.05-2, Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony and one count NYS PL 145.05-2, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a class E felony.

The investigation is ongoing.
