The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.14, down one cent from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.45. The New York State average is $3.17, no change from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.56. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:

  • Batavia – $3.22 (up 1 cent from last Monday)
  • Buffalo – $3.19 (up 2 cents from last Monday)
  • Rochester – $3.19 (up 2 cents from last Monday)

Gas prices remain steady as summer travelers continue to enjoy road trips, families prepare for back-to-school season, and college students get ready to return to campus. The Energy Information Administration says demand is down slightly, and supply remains abundant. OPEC + – a group of oil producing countries – recently announced it will be boosting production again next month, following several other increases this year. This morning, oil prices remain in the mid $60s per barrel. Analysts are keeping a close eye on potential hurricane activity that could impact gas prices if a storm hits a refinery.

Diesel costs are down slightly. Diesel prices this morning are down three cents to $3.71 compared to last week. The New York average is $3.91, down one cent from last week.

When it comes to EV charging, the national and state averages for L2 commercial electricity remain steady. Today’s national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stands at 36 cents. An estimated 1.2 million AAA members live in households with one or more electric vehicles.

To conserve fuel, motorists should map routes, avoid peak traffic times like rush hour, and combine errands into one trip while using cruise control when possible.
