Orsimer is dropping their 3 song debut “Woven Abberation” August 1st. It’s the brainchild of Mike Neely (Primitive Brutality, ex Arborize and ex Cordyceps). He actually used to put out articles on our site and I’m very grateful for his friendship. Mike is responsible for everything in this project. A lot of people do everything on their own these days as it’s pricy to start a band. Even online stuff you want to try to write unique music that stands out from others. The one man scene is so oversaturated but I think Mike has a nice mix of death metal here.
Now let me start off by saying it’s very diverse, including his voice that wanders all over the place. It gives him more vocal diversity across the three tracks. While I think consistency is key, it keeps listeners engaged not sticking to one vocal style.

Guitar wise it’s a huge highlight of “Woven Aberration” being his strength. He fluctuates between brutal slams and chugs, tech like fills between riffs and tasteful lead work. It’s far from boring and rotating between a few death metal styles kept me interested as a fellow guitarist. There’s plenty of fills and nasty pinch harmonics on his debut.
The rhythms are great and the bass work is exceptional. The speeds change a lot, which is another highlight of “Woven Aberration”. It’s a nice tight release spanning around 10 minutes so it doesn’t overstay its welcome. I highly recommend this EP to any metal head, especially ones that are into many styles.
