The Niagara Falls Americans scored five runs in the first inning en route to victory over the Elmira Pioneers on Friday.

But Elmira didn’t make it easy. They scored a run each in the first, second and third innings and two in the fifth. The Americans, for their part, scored another run in the third and sixth before touching home plate four times in the seventh.

Elmira wasn’t done, though. They scored three runs in the seventh and another pair in the eighth inning to fall just short of the comeback.

Niagara Falls, 28-16, host the Geneva Red Wings on Saturday, their final home game of the regular season, before closing out the season across the border in Niagara Falls, Canada on Sunday.

All WNY is a proud sponsor of the Niagara Falls Americans.
