NIAGARA FALLS, NY – The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has named American’s outfielder Gavyn Boyle as one of their Players of the Week for week six of the season. He joins West Division pitcher Pablo Sainz from Batavia, as well as East Division batter Chris Hoalcraft and pitchers Greg Nascimento and Luke Baker. Hoalcraft plays for the Amsterdam Mohawks, while both Nascimento and Baker play for the Utica Blue Sox. Boyle flashed both power and contact, leading the division in both hits and total bases over the week. This marks the third time a Niagara Falls American has won a Player of the Week honor.
Over the award-winning week, Boyle tallied a total of nine hits, adding up to 16 total bases. Boyle batted two doubles, one triple, and one home run for a .800 slugging percentage over the week. Gavyn drove in nine runs, scoring seven times himself. The biggest performance by both Gavyn and the Americans as a whole came in a 21-9 victory over Geneva on the 11th in which Boyle notched five runs and five RBIs himself.
Boyle currently sits at a .262 batting average through 24 games played. Sitting at a .833 OPS, Gavyn is the only American with multiple home runs, with three on the season so far. Extra base hits remain a staple of Boyle’s play, as he also leads the Americans with five doubles, as well as being just the second American with multiple triples, which he has two of. Over his 24 games, Boyle has collected 17 RBIs as well as scoring 18 run himself.
