BUFFALO — The Foundry is proud to announce MakeHER Series, a free, hands-on workshop program designed to empower women through immersive maker education. The application will officially open on Saturday, July 19 during The Foundry’s Summer Open House—attendees will be the first to apply!
The MakeHER Series builds confidence and skill in traditionally male-dominated fields. Participants will gain foundational experience in woodworking, metalworking, digital fabrication (laser cutting, 3D printing), and more—all within The Foundry’s inclusive and supportive makerspaces. Each workshop introduces a new space and set of skills, and upon completion, participants will have continued access to the makerspaces during Open Maker Hours (Mondays 6–9PM and Saturdays 9AM–1PM) to continue honing their craft.
“Programs like the MakeHER Series are essential to ensuring that our makerspace reflects the diversity and creativity of our community,” said Megan McNally, Executive Director of The Foundry. “When women are intentionally welcomed and barriers to participation are removed, we see confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of belonging flourish.”

Priority will be given to residents of high-priority zip codes identified by the United Way, including: 14201, 14202, 14203, 14204, 14206, 14207, 14208, 14209, 14210, 14211, 14212, 14213, 14215, 14216, 14218, 14220.
